So, there's not so much going on here yet, but I figured since this is a forum, and forums are based on their users, how about we introduce ourselves here and tell a bit about ourselves?
I'll start:
I'm from Germany, and my fields of study were English linguistics and Northern philology, with a focus on historical linguistics and language contact, plus a lot of bonus classes in Indo-European studies. The latter were kind of the most fun ones, including introductions to Hittite, Luwic, Vedic and suchlike.
Unfortunately I'm no longer involved in academia, however, so I am scratching that linguistic itch on sites like these purely on a hobby basis. I've been known to get little nerdgasms when I stumble upon unexpected cognates between IE languages.
